Four caching policies are compared in terms of tune-in time and access time. With reasonable access time delay, all of the caching policies help in reducing tune-in time for the two-level signature scheme. Moreover, two cache replacement policies are presented and compared by simulation. The result shows that, when the cache size is small, caching only the integrated signatures is recommended. When the size of cache is greater than that of the integrated signatures, caching both of the integrated and simple signatures is better.

Signature caching techniques for information filtering in mobile environments
This paper discusses signature caching strategies to reduce power consumption for wireless broadcast and filtering services. The two-level signature scheme is used for indexing the information frames. A signature is considered as the basic caching entity in this paper. متن کاملBroadcast Routing in Wireless Ad-Hoc Networks: A Particle Swarm optimization Approach
While routing in multi-hop packet radio networks (static Ad-hoc wireless networks), it is crucial to minimize power consumption since nodes are powered by batteries of limited capacity and it is expensive to recharge the device. This paper studies the problem of broadcast routing in radio networks. Given a network with an identified source node, any broadcast routing is considered as a directed...
متن کاملPower Conservative Multi-Attribute Queries on Data Broadcast
In this paper, we study power conservation techniques for multi-attribute queries on wireless data broadcast channels. Indexing data on broadcast channels can improve client filtering capability, while clustering and scheduling can reduce both access time and tune-in time. Thus, indexing techniques should be coupled with clustering and scheduling methods to reduce the battery power consumption ...
متن کاملInformat ion Filtering in Wireless and Mobile Environments
This paper describes the issue of power conservation on mobile clients, e.g., palmtop computers, and suggests that signature methods are suitable for real-time information filtering on wireless communication services. Two signatwebased approaches, namely simple signature and multi-level signature schemes, are presented. Cost models for access time and tune-in time of these two approaches are de...
